President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stressed that joint development projects will be expedited as he met with Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on Tuesday.
The meeting in Cairo was attended by the Egyptian minister of electricity, head of the intelligence apparatus, and the Egyptian ambassador to Khartoum.
The Egyptian president highlighted the “eternal, historical ties” of the two Nile Valley nations and their common interests. He emphasized the continuity of cooperation and coordination with Sudan at all levels, naming the projects of electrical linkage and a railway connecting the two countries.
The visit coincides with a meeting of the foreign and irrigation ministers of both countries and Ethiopia on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
