President Abdel Fatah El Sisi extended his best wishes for Egyptian expatriates on the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, aka al-Mawlid al-Nabawi, on Thursday.
“My Egyptian brothers and sisters abroad. It is a pleasure to extend to you my sincere congratulations and sincere heartfelt prayers on the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday. I pray to Allah to bless you, all Arab and Islamic nation and beloved country Egypt,” said President Sisi in an official cable sent to all Egyptian embassies and consulates worldwide.
In the third month of the Islamic Calendar, Rabi’ al-Awwal, Muslims celebrate the Prophet’s birthday; Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born at the beginning of Rabi’ al-Awwal, or on April 22, 570 AD, according to many historians. This year anniversary will be on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
One of the most important aspects of the celebration is the establishment street markets to sell candy and Arouset El-Moulid (sugar bride).
