Egypt will witness a slight and gradual rise in the temperature from Tuesday to Friday, said Chairperson of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ali Abdel Aal told Egypt Today on Monday.
“There will be a rise in temperature tomorrow by 3°C degrees, as the maximum temperatures in Cairo will go up to 36 °C degrees after it recorded 33 °C on Monday,” he said.
The temperature will increase two more degrees to record 38°C in Cairo on Wednesday, he added, assuring that the coming hot wave will be slighter than that Egypt witnessed last week when the temperature reached 45°C in Cairo and 50°C in some Upper Egyptian governorates.
Due to the blistering hot wave over the last weekend, a plastic manufacturing factory caught fire, claiming the lives of three people on Friday. Meanwhile, a passenger bus also caught fire due to the high temperature; no human causalities were reported.
In Sharm El Sheikh Resort, a huge fire broke out in an old market. Eye witnesses said the flames extended to reach a number of shops before the fire department put the situation under control.
