The Prisons Department at the Ministry of Interior formed committees to determine cases that deserve presidential pardons and conditional release finalizing on Oct.24 a list comprising 802 prisoners.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has issued decree no. 455/2018 to grant prisoners a reduction in prison sentences they serve in the occasion of the 45th anniversary of October 6 victory.
The numbers of prisoners who received presidential pardons and conditional release (remain under observation for a designated period of time) are respectively 448 and 354.
