Egypt\u2019s House of Representatives initially approved on Monday a draft law that organizes measures of seizure, management and use of terrorist groups and terrorists\u2019 funds.
\nParliament postponed final voting for the draft law until the quorum for the session is met.<\/p>\n
Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal said that calling on all members of parliament during the session is a prerequisite for the final approval of the draft law.<\/p>\n
Head of the legislative committee Bahaa Abu Shaqaa asserted that the draft law aims to dry up sources of terrorist funding to achieve security and safety for Egyptians.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, MP Mustafa Bakri said \u201cthe draft law coincides with the court verdicts issued by the Administrative Judiciary Court concerning release of funds of some Muslim Brotherhood leaders. So, the draft law is to organize this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n
The members entered into a controversial discussion on changing the draft law\u2019s title from \u201corganizing measures of seizure, management and use of Muslim Brotherhood group\u2019s funds\u201d to \u201corganizing measures of listing, management and use of terrorist entities and terrorists\u2019 funds,\u201d in order to make the law more \u201ccomprehensive and more general.\u201d<\/p>\n
The discussions ended with agreement to change the draft law\u2019s title to \u201corganizing measures of seizure, management and use of terrorist groups and terrorists\u2019 funds,\u201d in order to avoid unconstitutionality, as well as to avoid similarity with titles of other laws.<\/p>\n
