Egypt\u2019s military spokesperson Tamer El-Refaai told Egypt Independent on Sunday that the recently published report by The New York Times in which the US-based newspaper claimed that Israel has launched air strikes against Islamic State targets in North Sinai with Egyptian approval is not \u2018credible\u2019.<\/p>\n
The report claimed that Israel launched air strikes that targeted IS stationing points in North Sinai in coordination with Egypt as part of a secret military co-operation operation between the two countries.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian military spokesperson denied the authenticity of the published report, saying that the Egyptian army is the sole entity that is conducting military operations in co-operation with local police forces in certain areas in North Sinai.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the report is inaccurate and not credible, calling on media outlets to first investigate the accuracy of what is being published.<\/p>\n
The New York Times mentioned in its report that secret military co-operation between Egypt and Israel facilitated the execution of more than 100 air strikes on Egyptian territory conducted by Israeli drones and fighters.<\/p>\n
It noted that the air strikes have been carried out for more than two years and with the approval of Egypt\u2019s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.<\/p>\n
