Humanitarian organization Plan International Egypt organized four training camps in Sohag governorate, Upper Egypt, under the slogan \u201cno violence against girls\u201d to raise awareness about discrimination against woman.<\/p>\n
The camps targeted children of both sexes from four villages in Sohag governorate, the total number of participants being more than 400 boys and girls.<\/p>\n
The camps included sports activities, drawing workshops, theater and art shows against all forms of violence against children and women, such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and early marriage. The children raised signs and slogans showing the consequences of early marriage and the risks of FGM.<\/p>\n
Communications official at Plan International Egypt Mona Wasef said that the activities of the camp aimed to raise participants\u2019 awareness of a set of principles for the elimination of gender-based forms of violence and discrimination. These concepts were communicated through many dynamic, artistic and creative activities.<\/p>\n
Plan International was founded over 76 years ago and it is one of the oldest and largest international development agencies in the world. Plan operates in 52 countries with child-centered community programs that address the causes and negative impact of poverty on children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n
Plan International started operating in Egypt in 1981, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The organization works with more than 40 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in the areas of Greater Cairo, Giza, Kalubiya, Alexandria, Beheira, Damietta, Soha, Quena,Sharkaya and Assiut.<\/p>\n
