Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Transportation approved on Sunday a bid by Japanese-Egyptian consortium Tizi-Orascom to carry out infrastructure construction in the first phase of the metro\u2019s fourth line, connecting Cairo\u2019s Masr al-Qadima area with 6th October City through 17 stations. <\/p>\n
Official Spokesperson of the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), Hassan Tawfiq, said that the NAT and the consortium will sign the financial contract at end of December, after which construction will commence in the Haram area. <\/p>\n
Tawfik also revealed that the NAT has identified the route of an electric train connecting Cairo\u2019s al-Salam area with the new administrative capital east of Cairo through 11 stations.<\/p>\n
Five companies, including Arab Contractors, Orascom, Petrojet, Rowad Group, Public Nile Company for Roads & Bridges, will carry out the electric train\u2019s infrastructure works during two years, Tewfik added.<\/p>\n
He clarified that the construction of the electric train\u2019s infrastructure will commence in January 2018, at a total cost of US $ 1.2 billion.<\/p>\n
