The discovered obelisk belongs to the mother of King Pepi II of the 6th dynasty.<\/p>\n<p>Pepi II ascended the throne at the age of six. He succeeded to the throne after the death of Merenre I, and was traditionally thought to be the son of Pepi I and Queen Ankhesenpepi II.<\/p>\n<p>The excavation work is underway to unearth other parts of the obelisk.
