President Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi will preside over the first meeting held by The National Council to Counter Terrorism and Extremism (NCCTE) on Thursday, to preview the plan to combat terrorism security, politically and ideologically.<\/p>\n
The meeting will discuss a set of bills to combat terrorism and extremism, that the government will send to the House of Representatives during the next session in October<\/p>\n
Egypt is chairing the UN Security Council, for the second time since its non-permanent membership in 2016, and will work towards the elimination of weapon supplies to terrorists.<\/p>\n
There will be a review of sanctions imposed by the council on a number of countries in order to evaluate their effectiveness in the battle against terrorism, Ahmed Abu-Zeid, official spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.<\/p>\n
According to UN resolution 2253, the UN shall \u201cprevent the direct or indirect supply, sale, or transfer [to terrorists]\u2026 of weapons and ammunition, military vehicles and equipment\u2026 or training related to military activities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Egypt chaired the UN Security Council\u2019s meetings in May 2016, endorsing the interests of African and developing countries, as well as the Palestinian cause.<\/p>\n
