CAIRO \u2013 17 July 2022: Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey are planning to join the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), Russian newspaper Izvestia reported President of the BRICS International Forum Purnima Anand. This could be announced during the coming summit due in 2023, the newspaper added.<\/p>\n
In a speech via video conference during the BRICS Plus held under the chairmanship of China\u2019s President Xi Jinping on June 25, 2022, Egypt\u2019s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi urged the international community to engage \u201cmore effectively and positively\u201d in the efforts of empowering developing countries to achieve development and obtain the necessary funding.<\/p>\n
Sisi said developing and least developed countries still suffer from shortage in financing for development.<\/p>\n
The president affirmed the need to ensure that the support provided for these countries to achieve sustainable development is not affected by current economic measures.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to emphasize that efforts directed towards addressing the repercussions of the current economic crisis must not be at the expense of supporting the achievement of sustainable development in developing and least developed countries,\u201d Sisi stated.<\/p>\n
Sisi warned that such practice obstructs those countries\u2019 efforts to achieve tangible progress towards the implementation of the 2030 agenda.<\/p>\n
