CAIRO \u2013 23 June 2022: Egypt will be able to provide a strategic stockpile of medicines, vaccines and serums at a cost of L.E. 2.1 billion, according to Spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.<\/p>\n

As part of the development works in the health sector, Egypt announced establishing the first factory for blood plasma derivatives as per president\u2019s instructions, to help achieve self-sufficiency in plasma derivates, thus providing medicines for many chronic diseases.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cost of the plasma derivatives project amounted to 423 million pounds,\u201d said the spokesperson. He added that a serum complex was opened and operated in Helwan, in addition to establishing the National Serum and Vaccine Complex.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Health and Population revealed the details of the health infrastructure development projects, stressing that 1,139 hospitals were developed and upgraded at a value of 27 billion and 561 million pounds, indicating that they provide medical services consistent with quality standards.<\/p>\n
A total of 51 hospitals, 310 units and centers have been established at a cost of 22 billion 133 million pounds within the comprehensive health insurance system in the governorates of the first phase.<\/p>\n
He further added that an ambulance facility was developed through 84 projects at a cost of 4 billion and 159 million pounds, while the cost of projects for public health initiatives amounted to 5.99 billion pounds.<\/p>\n
