CAIRO \u2013 22 June 2022: Egypt has extended condolences to the Afghan state over the deadly earthquake Paktika and Khost provinces, which have killed and injured hundreds of people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Egyptian government and people express their since condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery,\u201d the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The ministry also affirmed Egypt\u2019s solidarity with Afghanistan in this tragic incident.<\/p>\n
The 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Khost province early on Wednesday in the southeastern part of Afghanistan. According to state-run media, the quake has killed 1,000 people and injured 1,500 others.<\/p>\n
The death toll is likely to rise during the coming period, media quoted Mawlawi Sharafuddin Muslim, the deputy minister for disaster management as saying.<\/p>\n
The quake has also destroyed dozens of houses, according to reports.<\/p>\n
