CAIRO- 27 February 2022: Egyptian authorities are communicating with 5,000 Egyptian citizens living 21 in Ukrainian cities, including 3,000 students, said Minister of Migration Ambassador Nabila Makram on Saturday evening, saying the state is concerned with their safety to return home.<\/p>\n
In media comments to “From Egypt” T.V. talk show on the “CBC” channel, Makram added that 22 Egyptian citizens managed to cross to Poland and 100 others entered Romania, adding that the ministry is following up with them.<\/p>\n
Makram also revealed that some students expressed their concern about their academic study when they come back home because the Ministry of Higher Education does not recognize the Ukrainian university they study at. She added that the ministry is contacting the Ministry of Higher education concerning this matter.<\/p>\n
A group of Egyptians in Ukraine already arrived in Cairo and 1,000 others are expected to reach the Romanian capital of Bucharest, Makram said on Saturday in remarks to TV host Azza Mostafa on Sada Al-Balad.<\/p>\n
Students in southern and central Ukraine should stay at home, because the situation is currently difficult, and we advise them not to leave their homes, Makram said.<\/p>\n
Makram held a meeting with representatives of the Egyptian community in Ukraine, which included several Egyptian students in different Ukrainian cities.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian embassy in Kyiv, on Sunday, launched a new Telegram group to communicate with the Egyptian community stranded in Ukraine due to the military escalation between Russia and Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Egyptian embassy will send instructions on the new group to direct the nationals to exit safely to the countries neighboring Ukraine to go back home.<\/p>\n
The Telegram group was named \u201cThe instructions of the Egyptian Embassy in Ukraine.\u201d It can be joined via this link (https:\/\/t.me\/EmbassyofEgyptKiyv).<\/p>\n
The embassy announced on Saturday that Egyptian stranded nationals can head for the Slovakian border as they can enter Slovenia without a visa. It asked the nationals to send a soft copy of their passports to the emergency number of the embassy in Bratislava so that entry can be facilitated.<\/p>\n
It also said that the Ukrainian authorities imposed a curfew starting at 5:00 pm to 8:00 am until February 28, calling upon the Egyptian citizens to abide by this rule.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian authorities also urged Egyptians in the western parts of Ukraine to head to Poland and Romania.<\/p>\n
