CAIRO \u2013 9 February 2022: Egypt\u2019s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Dutch counterpart, Wopke Hoekstra, discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the issues of mutual concern, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.<\/p>\n
As they made a phone call on Wednesday, the ministers discussed a number of files of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Netherlands.<\/p>\n
They also discussed means of boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries within the framework of mutual respect.<\/p>\n
The phone call comes as part of the Egyptian-Dutch coordination, especially with Hoekstra taking office last January, the ministry said.<\/p>\n
In November, Egypt\u2019s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi met with Netherlands\u2019 Prime Minister Mark Rutte on the sidelines the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
Sisi and Rutte discussed ways to boost relations especially in trade and tourism and in the field of immigration in addition to the existing cooperation in the field of water management.<\/p>\n
Sisi and Rutte also discussed benefiting from the Dutch expertise in projects related to water systems, irrigation and agriculture, as well as in the field of ports management and strengthening the existing cooperation between the Suez Canal and the Port of Rotterdam.<\/p>\n
They also discussed ways to enhance tripartite cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands in Africa, in light of the mutual interest of the two sides in supporting development in the continent.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Rutte noted to his country\u2019s keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt to maintain regional peace and security in the Middle East and Africa.<\/p>\n
He expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian efforts to reach political solutions to the various political conflicts within the MENA region.<\/p>\n
