CAIRO \u2013 20 January 2022: The Health Ministry said it has reported 1,379 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, upping the total number of confirmed cases reported in Egypt since the beginning of the outbreak to 403,990.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 33 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 22,238.<\/p>\n
As many as 1,599 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 337,627 so far, the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has ordered enhancing awareness programs concerning precautionary measures to face coronavirus and continuing vaccination campaigns for the targeted groups.<\/p>\n
Sisi made the remarks in a meeting with Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din.<\/p>\n
The president also urged supplying chest hospitals nationwide with more devices and equipment required for dealing with COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n
He also ordered enhancing these hospitals\u2019 accommodation capabilities as a vital addition to the general health system in Egypt.<\/p>\n
Sisi also stressed the need for full commitment to implementing the coronavirus preventive measures, especially in highly crowded places, including government departments, universities, schools, and public service spaces.<\/p>\n
The meeting tackled the current epidemiological situation in the country concerning the spread of the virus, the progress of the health aspect of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family, and the workflow of the national project for the manufacture of plasma derivatives.<\/p>\n
