Acting Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting Monday evening to follow up on the progress of underway preparations to launch 24 out of planned 52 family development centers across 20 governorates.<\/p>\n
Those centers are targeted at women and children offering services such as medical check-ups, including pre-marriage ones and those pertinent to breast cancer. They also provide the disabled with medical services.<\/p>\n
Those centers are not just healthcare units, but also, have nurseries, vocational training centers, and handicraft workshops for women.<\/p>\n
In a related context, 1,500 doctors have been trained on family planning services as there is a target to run 1,000 medical caravans specialized in birth control per annum.<\/p>\n
