CAIRO \u2013 21 December 2021: Spokesperson for Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said that \u201cit is in appropriate to comment or touch on Egyptian court rulings,\u201d in response to a question about statements made by US State Department saying U.S. is disappointed by an Egyptian court\u2019s sentencing.<\/p>\n
In his comments to MENA journalist\u2019s question, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez stated \u201cit is inappropriate to comment or refer to rulings issued by the Egyptian judiciary in implementation of laws and on the basis of irrefutable and conclusive evidence within the framework of a fair, impartial and independent judicial process.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is impermissible and unjustified to address such judicial issues within any political framework or link them to relations between the two countries,” he added.<\/p>\n
On Monday, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the United States is “disappointed” by an Egyptian court’s sentencing of Activist Alaa Abdel Fattah to five years in prison, after he was tried on charges of spreading fake news.<\/p>\n
