CAIRO – 12 December 2021: The Health and Population Ministry said on Sunday that 7.725 million students were examined under a presidential initiative aiming at detecting anemia, dwarfism and obesity among primary school children.<\/p>\n
The initiative comes as part of the State keenness on preserving the health and safety of school students, said spokesman for the ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.<\/p>\n
Students who need treatment will be referred to a Health Insurance clinic, to receive a free service, he added.<\/p>\n
He said the initiative will examine 15 million Egyptian and non-Egyptian students in the primary stage in 29,444 public and private schools and that it will last until the end of the school year.<\/p>\n
The students\u2019 weight, height, and hemoglobin will be measured to detect diseases resulting from malnutrition and develop proper mechanisms to improve their health.<\/p>\n
He said students will be handed a follow-up card with their data to follow up on their condition periodically in 255 health insurance clinics across the country. <\/p>\n
