European Union (EU) Ambassador Christian Berger congratulated Egypt on reopening of Avenue of Sphinxes and holding the sixth ministerial meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF).<\/p>\n
\u201cCongratulations on the spectacular event in Luxor – with the Avenue of Sphinxes creating a vast open-air museum and tourist attraction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In a glittering ceremony in the City of Sun, Luxor, Egypt reopens the 3,000-year-old Avenue of the Sphinxes, which lies between Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple.<\/p>\n
The Pharaonic Avenue of Sphinxes (The Road of Rams) is an open-air museum the Egyptian government re-opens on Thursday after years of excavations and restorations.<\/p>\n
The 2,700-meter Rams Road was a road of major processions for the kings of the Pharaohs, and a festive avenue for various holidays, including the renowned Opet Festival- the Ancient Egyptian Festival celebrated in Thebes (Luxor) and the coronation feast of the king, especially during the New Kingdom of 1550 to 1069 BCE.<\/p>\n
As for the 6th Ministerial meeting of the EMGF, he said \u201cCongratulations on the successful 6th Ministerial meeting of the EMGF under the chairmanship of Minister El Molla! Ambassador Christian Berger said after attending the meeting representing the EU as an observer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Forum is an illustration example of successful economic and political cooperation that leads to regional prosperity and stability. The EU will continue the structured dialogue with the Forum on a wide range of issues and is keen in a longstanding partnership to support ambitious plans focusing on sustainable solutions such as de-carbonization, limiting methane emissions and energy efficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n
Egypt held the EMGF on Thursday in Cairo with the participation of his counterparts from Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Jordan and Palestinian president advisor in Cairo.<\/p>\n
The member countries of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum have agreed that confronting climate change and providing clean energy sources have become a necessity, said Molla on Thursday.
\n\u2028Therefore, \u201cwe need to build on the topics we discussed at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) to support the global trend to achieve sustainable development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
