Five rain detection stations in the New Valley, Matrouh, and the Red Sea governorates have been established to better deal with flash floods.<\/p>\n
According to a Sunday statement by the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, the stations have been set up in el-Dakhla, Siwa, and Hurghada cities, raising the number of such stations to 38 across the country, where they all work with solar energy. <\/p>\n
The stations will detect the rain, its amount, and distribution, which would help in avoiding the desastrous impact of flash floods by reducing water levels in flood systems, and immediately dealing with emergencies.<\/p>\n
The monitoring system also contributes to verifying the results of the mathematical models used in forecasting rain by the Flood Forecasting Center. <\/p>\n
As part of Egypt’s digital transformation, the Ministry of Irrigation is integrating the latest information system technologies to ensure the collection of data with the highest accuracy and speed to arrive at better decision-making, the statement said. <\/p>\n
