CAIRO – 6 February 2021: Egypt condemned in a Friday statement the terror attack that rocked a remote area of southwest Niger that left dozens dead.<\/p>\n
Egypt also asserted its support for Niger in its efforts to combat terrorism. <\/p>\n
Egypt\u2019s Foreign Ministry offered its sincere condolences to Niger and the victims\u2019 families, wishing speedy recovery for the wounded.<\/p>\n
No group has claimed responsibility for the assault. A local affiliate of Islamic State has killed hundreds of civilians in a series of attacks in the same area this year despite government efforts to regain control.<\/p>\n
