CAIRO – 26 October 2021: Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi described President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s decision to end the state of emergency nationwide as “historic” and “great”.<\/p>\n
In a phone interview on Monday, the spokesman said the decision reflects President Sisi\u2019s appreciation of the Egyptian people\u2019s tolerance and awareness of the importance of economic and institutional reform undertaken by the Egyptian State for seven years.<\/p>\n
The end of the state of emergency is due to the current security stability in Egypt, the spokesman added.<\/p>\n
He further underlined that the Egyptian State is witnessing political, social and economic stability, a matter that led to the lift of the state of emergency.<\/p>\n
Today’s decision is a reflection of the State’s efforts and the security and social stability in Egypt, he made it clear.<\/p>\n
On Oct.25, President al-Sisi declared the cancellation of the extension of the state of emergency throughout the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is my pleasure to share together this moment, for which we have always striven with hard work. Egypt has become – thanks to its great people and loyal men – an oasis of security and stability in the region; hence, I decided, for the first time in years, to cancel the extension of the state of emergency throughout the country,\u201d says President Sisi on his official Facebook page.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis decision was has been made by Egyptians themselves over the past few years throughout their honest and sincere participation in the efforts of development and construction,\u201d he added<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I declare this decision, I do remember, with honor and respect, our heroic martyrs, without whom we would not have achieved safety and stability,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
