CAIRO \u2013 24 October 2021: The head of the Youth Love Egypt (YLE) Foundation Ahmed Fathy and the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Sayyed Quseir discussed a national project aimed at planting half-million trees along the Nile.<\/p>\n
The meeting came ahead of Egypt\u2019s participation at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October \u2013 12 November 2021, said the YLE in a statement on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Nile Tree Project, which was launched by the YLE at World Environment Day this year, aims at planting 0.5 million trees along all newly-lined irrigational canals on the two banks of the Nile.<\/p>\n
The project comes as one of the programs that aim at adapting to climate change via contributing to reducing carbon emissions and consequently it will help reduce the high temperature, the YLE added.<\/p>\n
On Friday, the YLE Foundation organized a bike racing (EGypt Climate Justice Action- 15km) in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, with the participation of 30 people. The bike racing was organized in cooperation with 3agal Masr and Cycle Egypt. The event comes in light of the foundation\u2019s 15-day activities ahead of the COP26 summit.<\/p>\n
This month, the foundation had launched the activities of the second phase of the \u201cEnvironmental Pioneers Program\u201d training, In cooperation with the Environmental Compliance Office at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (ECO), the Twitter Foundation, in cooperation with the United Nations Volunteers Program in Egypt.<\/p>\n
The goal of the program is to spread awareness and contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030, in addition to empowering youth to find solutions to climate change.<\/p>\n
