The preparatory meetings of the joint committee between Egypt and South Sudan kicked off on Tuesday at the level of experts for the first time since the signing of an agreement to establish the committee in January 2012 as part of efforts to promote relations between the two countries and develop ties with all African states.<\/p>\n
The meeting came upon directives from Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to start holding the meetings of the joint committee.<\/p>\n
Minister of International cooperation Rania Al Mashat, who presides over the Egyptian side to the meetings, said the first convocation of the committee reflected the interest of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in promoting relations with all African countries at all levels.<\/p>\n
She pointed out to cooperation between the two countries in the fields of water resources and irrigation, health, education and electricity.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Madbouli affirmed “Egypt\u2019s continued support for the brotherly people of South Sudan in facing floods, the coronavirus pandemic crisis, and economic difficulties; in order to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly people of South Sudan for peace, stability and development.”<\/p>\n
He added that those bilateral ties reflect long-standing bonds between the two countries, and the common history shared by their peoples, pointing out to President Sisi\u2019s visit to Juba in November 2020.<\/p>\n
