Egypt\u2019s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli issued a decree announcing 19-24 July as paid holidays for public sector employees on the occasion of Muslim\u2019s Eid Al-Adha and the 23rd of July Revolution.<\/p>\n
The decision is applied for employees at ministries, governmental institutions, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies and public business sector companies.<\/p>\n
Exams, however, will continue according to the previously planned schedule, according to Madbouli\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n
Workers in the private sector will also have a paid holiday starting from Monday July 19 to Thursday July 22, as per an official decision by the prime minister.<\/p>\n
Eid Al-Adha is the most significant feast for Muslims worldwide, as it marks the end of the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the holy city of Mecca.<\/p>\n
The Adha honors the day when Prophet Ibrahim -peace be upon him- was ordered to sacrifice his son, Ismael, and because of his obedience, God substituted Ismael with a ram, and this day has become a feast for Muslims since that day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd We have ransomed you with a mighty sacrifice\u201d – Qur\u2019an 37:107<\/p>\n
In Islam, the sacrificed animal during Al-Adha is divided into parts, in order for the animal\u2019s owner to be able to give a share of the meat to the needy people.<\/p>\n
