The Health Ministry said Tuesday that 609 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country to 274,404.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 37 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15,691.<\/p>\n
As many as 911 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 202,650 so far, the spokesman said. <\/p>\n
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Khaled Megahed stated Tuesday that Egypt will receive within days 1.9 million AstraZeneca doses through Covax, and one million Sinopharm doses within a week.<\/p>\n
It is noted that Egypt is getting 40 million doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine through Covax. Until present, the country got 2.2 million doses of those in addition to two million Sinopharm doses within a deal with China comprising 20 million doses.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Egypt will produce 40 million doses annually of Sinovac and Sputnic V vaccines. Production of the former will begin in a few days as 1,400 liters of raw material have been delivered by China to produce 2,250,000 doses as a first phase. The second consists of five million doses.<\/p>\n
The ministry also stated that 10 million Sputnic V doses will be delivered to Egypt soon. <\/p>\n
