Egypt recorded new 1,132 coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and 54 deaths in the past 24 hours, announced the Egyptian Ministry on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Health and Population said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient’s recovery from the Coronavirus.<\/p>\n
The ministry stated that the total number of infections that was registered in Egypt thus far is 258,407 cases, including 189,476 cases that have been cured, and 14,904 deaths.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Health and Population continues to raise its preparations in all governorates of the Republic, follow the situation first-hand regarding the “emerging corona” virus, and take all necessary preventive measures against any viruses or infectious diseases.<\/p>\n
The ministry has also allocated a number of communication means to receive citizens’ inquiries about the emerging coronavirus and infectious diseases. , Including the hotline “105”, “15335”, and the WhatsApp number “01553105105”, in addition to the “Egypt Health” application available on phones.<\/p>\n
Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Health and Population revealed that it prepared the first isolation room for patients infected with black fungus disease at Al-Negela Hospital, and stated that the hospital has not yet received any cases. <\/p>\n
The Ministry of Health assured that the Black Fungus disease is rare, and it occurs due to wrong or excessive use of cortisone drugs or antibiotics, and therapeutic protocol set for COVID patients. The ministry has stressed that COVID patients are among the most vulnerable groups to be infected with the Black Fungus, as well as diabetics and patients with tumors due to their low immune system.<\/p>\n
This fungal infection appears to have different types as reported in India: Black Fungus, Yellow Fungus, and White Fungus, with yellow reported as the most fatal one.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Health has not officially reported any cases with Black Fungus; however, a 62-year old lady in Fayoum, who recently recovered from COVID-19, was diagnosed with the fungal infection.<\/p>\n
