The Palestinian Red Crescent announced the injury of 90 Palestinian protesters in clashes with the Israeli police Saturday whereas 30 had to receive treatment in hospitals.<\/p>\n
The injuries were caused by rubber bullets, stun grenades, and beating up in Old Jerusalem, mainly in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Jarrah, Bab Al Amoud, and Bab Al Zahra.<\/p>\n
The Israeli police also detained 25 Palestinians after storming into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem and assaulting worshipers for the second day on a row.<\/p>\n
Prior to those incidents, dozens of Palestinians broke to the streets to protest stripping six Palestinian families of their homes in Sheikh Jarrah eastern Jerusalem replacing them by Israeli settlers.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Egypt condemned the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque and the attack on Palestinian worshippers by Israeli police, according to the statement released by the Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n
The statement urged the Israeli authorities to honor their responsibilities under international law by providing the necessary protection for Palestinian civilians and respecting their right to perform their religious rituals.<\/p>\n
The ministry also urged Israel to stop any actions that violate the sanctity of Al Aqsa, expressing its rejection of all Israeli attempts to alter the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of Al Quds and obliterate its historical and legal status.<\/p>\n
\u201cEgypt vehemently refuses any illegal practices and acts that target the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinians,\u201d Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.<\/p>\n
Condemning the Israeli settlement policy, he said the building of new Israeli settlements and the expansion of existing ones and the confiscation of Palestinian lands and eviction of Palestinians from lands that are rightfully theirs breach international law, undermine all chances of realizing the two-state solution and threaten regional security and stability.<\/p>\n
Hafez strongly denounced Israel\u2019s threatened eviction of dozens of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Eastern Jerusalem, branding this a violation of international legitimacy and the international humanitarian law and a continuation of the forcible eviction of Palestinians from their homes.<\/p>\n
