Member of Parliament for the Coordination of Youth Parties and Politicians Amira al Adly issued a statement, Monday to Speaker Hanfy al Gibaly against Minster of Transportation after Toukh train accident.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould we prepare a statement in advance in anticipation of other incidents?.. writing a statement for the third time within a month on a train accident is like writing condolences for a dead person, who we do not yet know the reasons for his death?\u201d Adly stated in her statement.<\/p>\n
Previously we used to say that errors cannot occurs when it comes to the people\u2019s lives, Adly said. She added that \u2018the repetition of the same mistake is a great disregard against the Egyptians lives.\u2019<\/p>\n
She said that Ministry was given all means of support and in return, officials promised to preserve Egyptians safety and security, \u2018but this never happened.\u2019<\/p>\n
She noted that: \u201cthis time, we do not expect questioning those who are responsible directly for the accident, but we expect to question everybody in the Ministry including the Minster himself.\u201d<\/p>\n
A total of 11 people were killed and 98 injured in the Sunday derailment of a train in Toukh, the Delta, where most of the injuries are fractures and segmental wounds.<\/p>\n
According to a statement by the Health Ministry, 60 ambulances were dispatched immediately to the site of the accident and those injured were transferred to the nearby Benha University Hospital, Benha Educational Hospital, and Qalyub Specialized Hospital. Three other critically injured victims were transferred to Nasser Medical Institute to undergo minute surgeries.<\/p>\n
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has ordered an investigation into the derailment of four carriages of the train on the way from Cairo to Mansoura city in Qalyubia, the Delta. Thus far, it is unclear how the four carriages were separated from the rest of the train.<\/p>\n
Sisi also requested that the victims be compensated swiftly. Meanwhile, Minister of Solidarity Neveen el-Kabbag visited the site of the accident, vowing to dispense compensation and provide social and psychological care to the victims, as well as to reunite them with their families as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
This is the third train accident in a month. On Wednesday, a train derailed in Sharqia governorate, which was also bound from Cairo to Mansoura, but no deaths occurred. On March 26, two trains collided in Sohag, Upper Egypt, resulting in dozens of casualties. Eight railway employees have been detained for trial in the Sohag case.<\/p>\n
