Since the beginning of 2020, the Ministry of International Cooperation has made several strides in structural reforms and restructuring the Ministry in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in following up ongoing projects, according to International Cooperation Minister Rania Al-Mashat.<\/p>\n
This came during Al-Mashat\u2019s presentation of the results of the periodic monitoring of development projects that were implemented throughout the year 98 percent of the projects are on the right track in implementation with no constraints. The presentation took place in front of the plenary session of the House of Representatives chaired by former Supreme Constitutional Court Chancellor, Hanafi Jabal, that <\/p>\n
This comes within the framework of the Ministry of International Cooperation\u2019s Presidential Decree No. 303 of 2004, which is to follow-up and monitor national agencies that benefit from foreign development financing within the framework of the general economic policy of the country to achieve national development priorities. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe reorganization of the General Administration responsible for the supervision of the projects financed by the development partners is crucial to increase their efficiency; moreover, 98% of the financed projects are progressing adequately, as per planned;\u201d Al-Mashat said during the plenary session at the House of Representatives, chaired former Supreme Constitutional Court Chancellor, Hanafi Jabal.<\/p>\n
The Minister added during the plenary session today that throughout the year, from March 2020 until December 2020, the Ministry organized several multi-stakeholder platforms to bring together all different multilateral and bilateral partners to coordinate and streamline development goals according to the United Nation\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals, which is eventually presented to the Prime Minister periodically to review challenges and progress.<\/p>\n
Al-Mashat noted that the results of the periodic meetings and monitoring revealed that in January 2020, the percentage of projects that faced challenges in their implementation was 28%, and by the end of December 2020 this decreased to only 2%, and that about 98% of the projects are on the right track in implementation with no constraints. <\/p>\n
According to the annual report by the Ministry of International Cooperation in 2020, the ministry secured development financing agreements worth $9.8 billion during the year; $6.7 billion for financing sovereign projects, and $3.1 billion in support of the private sector.<\/p>\n
