Additional flights to Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and other tourist destinations in Egypt have been arranged due to high demand, Rushdi Zakaria, chairman of the holding company for EgyptAir said Sunday.<\/p>\n
He added in statements to Sada al Balad privet channel commenting on the preparations for domestic flights for the New Year that the flights have been arranged due to the high demand to Egypt\u2019s different tourist destinations.<\/p>\n
This high demand comes despite fears of the new rising strain of Covid-19 which appeared earlier in Britain. However, Egypt\u2019s coastal cities such as Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada are one of the lowest cities in Egypt to spot covid cases.<\/p>\n
Last July, Governor of South Sinai described Sharm el Sheikh to be among of the lowest four cities internationally, in Covid infections.<\/p>\n
Also, as a precautionary measure to face the new strain of Covid-19, flights to and from Saudi Arabia have been suspended as of Monday for a week, subject to extension, according to an EgyptAir tweet.<\/p>\n
\u201cPer the instructions issued by the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, all arriving and departing international flights [from Saudia Arabia] have been suspended as of Monday Dec. 21, 2020,\u201d the tweet said.<\/p>\n
Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday that because of the reportedly new Covid strain, all flights will be suspended until more information is available about the strain. More instructions were also announced regarding people coming from Europe, such as obligatory quarantine and a Covid-19 swab test.<\/p>\n
The Health Ministry said Sunday that 664 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 125,555.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 29 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 7,098.<\/p>\n
As many as 336 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 106,817 so far, the spokesman said<\/p>\n
