President of Cairo University Mohamed el-Khosht revealed that the university has accepted some students from Upper Egypt’s governorates \u201cto keep them away from the risks of vengeance embedded in the culture of these governorates.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe university is playing a role in preserving students and their future, and keeping them away from revenge disputes that haunt them,\u201d he added in TV statements.<\/p>\n
The tradition of family revenge killings, also known as blood fued of vendetta, is a long-running fight between families or clans in Upper Egypt. It is cycle of retaliatory violence, where the relatives or associates of someone who has been killed, seek vengeance by killing or otherwise physically punishing the killer or one of his culprits or relatives.<\/p>\n
In another context, Khosht affirmed that all female students who came from different governorates to study at Cairo University will find accommodation as long as they meet residency conditions. \u201cWe will never leave any girl outside the housing as long as they meet the conditions,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
He further assured that all health and precautionary measures are maintained to protect students at on-housing campus units, and prevent the spread of coronavirus. <\/p>\n
