Egypt\u2019s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi urged the international community to act effectively and cooperatively in the face of challenges on biodiversity and natural resources.<\/p>\n
Giving a speech at the United Nations Summit on Biodiversity, Sisi said decreasing biodiversity and quick loss of natural resources threaten all countries and curb the ability to achieve goals of sustainable development, especially in light of the phenomenon of climate change.<\/p>\n
\u201cHence, we are facing a real test in our relationship with nature that forces us to live in harmony with it,\u201d Sisi stated.<\/p>\n
The president said Egypt has been keen to cooperate with stakeholders to ensure that a post-2020 global biodiversity framework is implemented in a balanced and fair way, to be adopted at the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP) in China.<\/p>\n
\u201cEgypt is activating its principles by integrating biodiversity into the sectors of natural reserves and ecotourism, for example, as well as in its development plans to protect these resources and create more job opportunities,\u201d the president added.<\/p>\n
