Egypt\u2019s Prime Minster Moustafa Madbouly Thanked all parties participated in organizing 2020\u2019s senate elections, during a Cabinet video-conference meeting, Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He added that a very accurate plan was set and implemented very carefully to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
Madbouly discussed several other economic and social topics on the government top agenda during the current phase in his meeting with the minsters, according to official statement.<\/p>\n
Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Health urged all voters, earlier not to abandon their face masks during casting their ballots, in order to avoid spreading COVID-19 among citizens.<\/p>\n
The Ministry affirmed the observers’ commitment to wearing masks, providing protection for all supervisors of the electoral process, in addition to continuous ventilation of the electoral stations.<\/p>\n
The Ministry also pointed out to necessity of adhering to the announced precautionary measures, including wearing masks, gloves, using alcohol and avoid overcrowding.<\/p>\n
The second day of Senate Elections kicked off at home on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Queues of voters outside polling stations were seen as precautionary measures like sterilization gates were installed, disinfectants and masks were distributed among participants.<\/p>\n
Egyptians at home started voting process Tuesday in the Senate Elections Tuesday at home, after it concluded expats vote on Monday<\/p>\n
The Senate is the upper chamber of the Parliament, which was reinstated as part of constitutional amendments that passed in a referendum in 2019, in replacement of Shura Council, which was dissolved in 2014.<\/p>\n
The voting process kicked off at 9 a.m. as scheduled by the Supreme Elections Committee. Queues of voters wearing medical masks and holding disinfectants were seen outside polling stations in different governorates; floor marks keeping social distance for voters were seen at some polling stations.<\/p>\n
Noticeable turnout by elderly voters was seen during the early hours of the day.<\/p>\n
A total of 63 million Egyptians are registered voters, and entitled to vote in the 2020 Senate elections, where they will cast their votes at 14,092 sub-polling stations. The judicial supervision of the voting process is assigned to 18,000 judges and 120,000 employees.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Egyptian expats concluded 2-day voting process in 124 countries via mail. The final results of the Senate elections will be announced on August 16<\/p>\n
In case of a re-election, elections will be held abroad on Sunday and Monday (September 6 and 7), and in Egypt on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 8 and 9).<\/p>\n
The General Command of the Armed Forces had taken all measures to secure the 2020 Senate elections nationwide, and provide a safe environment for citizens to cast their votes, in coordination with the Interior Ministry.<\/p>\n
