Egypt recorded Friday 703 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 86,474.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 68 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 4,188.<\/p>\n
As many as 611 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 27,302 so far, the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
Head of the COVID-19 Treatment Committee Hossam Hosny attributed, Monday, the decline of daily infections below 1,000 to the protective measures and the weakening of the virus.<\/p>\n
The official highlighted that deaths account for 4.7 percent of cases, which is below the global figure standing at 5 percent.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian Drug Authority announced signing a deal with AstraZeneca to supply the country with the Oxford University’s vaccine for COVID-19 without disclosing the number of doses or the delivery date.<\/p>\n
