Ghada Yehia, deputy Aswan governor, on Wednesday tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Upper Egyptian governorate\u2019s office reported.<\/p>\n
Yehia will be quarantined at home and will receive the necessary medical care, the statement by the office said, adding that contacts will be also tested.<\/p>\n
This comes a week after the governor of Dakahlia, in northern Egypt, tested positive for coronavirus and said he infected his wife. Luckily, his mother and sons have not been infected, governor Ayman Mokhtar said.<\/p>\n
Upon tracing, 51 contacts of Mokhtar has tested negative for the deadly virus.<\/p>\n
Also, Minister of Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati, said he was doing well after meeting Mokhtar, before the infection was detected.<\/p>\n
All anti-COVID 19 precautionary health measures were taken at this meeting such as social distancing, the disinfection of the office, the testing of attendees and the wearing of face masks and gloves, he added in a statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Health Ministry said in its daily briefing on Tuesday that 789 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Egypt recently, bringing the total number of cases to 18,756.<\/p>\n
The ministry also reported 14 deaths due to the novel virus, bringing the total number to 797.<\/p>\n
Also, the test results of 5,606 people turned from positive to negative, the ministry said, including 5,027 people who totally recovered. It added that 127 patients left hospitals<\/p>\n
