Tunisian Star Dhafer L’Abidine is starring in Netflix\u2019s new series The Eddy, which will premiere on May 8, marking his first Netflix series.<\/p>\n
The miniseries is directed by Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle (La La Land) along with other remarkable directors.<\/p>\n
A French-American co-production, The Eddy follows a jazz club owner struggles every day to protect his business and his band in the heart of Paris.<\/p>\n
The series co-stars Joanna Kulig, Golden Globe nominated actress Melissa George, Andr\u00e9 Holland, Randy Kerber and Tahar Rahim.<\/p>\n
The Eddy is produced by director Damien Chazelle, who won an Academy Award for La La Land, and he also co-directs it with Moroccan director Houda Benyamina, winner of the Golden Camera award at the Cannes Film Festival, and La\u00efla Marrakchi (Rock the Casbah), and written by Jack Thorne. Alan Poul is Executive Producer.<\/p>\n
L\u2019abdine is the gentle handsome Tunisian star whose handsomeness quickly captured the hearts of fans.<\/p>\n
For an actor, handsomeness may help to get into others hearts but to stay in it, he has to own another kind of beauty; that of talent, perseverance and hard work.<\/p>\n
L\u2019abdine owns all these kinds of loveliness, the matter that made him a mega star in a short period of time.<\/p>\n
He was born in Tunis in 1972. L\u2019abdine was a professional football player until the age of 23, where he was severely injured, and his injury prevented him from playing football for two years.<\/p>\n
In those two years he worked in the modeling field. After his recovery, he was 25 years old and felt that he could no longer play football professionally again.<\/p>\n
L\u2019abdine loved watching movies, art and acting, and decided to take acting classes.<\/p>\n
In 2000 he traveled to the United Kingdom and settled there. He joined the Birmingham School of Acting and graduated in 2002.<\/p>\n
At that time he was given the opportunity to participate in a British series called “Dream Team,” where he played the role of a French football player over two seasons (2002-2004) and this series was his artistic kick off.<\/p>\n
L\u2019abdine is fluent in Arabic, English, French, Spanish and Italian, which allowed him to work in a number of international series like \u2018\u2019Wire in the blood\u2019\u2019 in 2004, \u2018\u2019the Bill\u2019\u2019 and \u2018\u2019the Doctors\u2019\u2019 in 2005.<\/p>\n
In 2006 he participated in three international movies: \u201cA Different Dish,\u2019\u2019 \u2018\u2019Children of Men\u2019\u2019 and \u2018\u2019Mercante di Pietre.\u2019\u2019 In the same year he was involved in two series: \u2018\u2019Bombshell\u2019\u2019 and \u2018\u2019the Spooks.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
In 2008 he was in the famous Tunisian series “Maktoob,” where he played the role of Mohamed Ali and won widespread fame in Tunisia. In the same year he hosted the Carthage International Film Festival.<\/p>\n
He started his acting career in Egypt in 2012 with the Egyptian series \u2018\u2019Vertigo\u2019\u2019 with the Tunisian star Hend Sabry who he co-star with her again in the successful Egyptian series ” Halawet el Dunia” ( The sweetness of the world) for which he won the Murex D’or for Best Arab Actor in a TV Series.<\/p>\n
Before his sky-rocketing breakthrough in the Arab world, Dhafer L’Abidine enjoyed a successful career in the West, appearing in international film productions, such as Sex and the City 2 (2010), Centurion (2010), Black Forest (2012), and Rise of the Footsoldier (UK).<\/p>\n
L’Abidine also starred in several Arab TV series and films, including his latest TV series Aroos Beirut (Beirut’s Bride) and the film Al Ankbout (The Spider), starring Ahmed El Sakka and Mona Zaki.<\/p>\n
In 2018, he starred in ” Layali Eugenie” ( Eug\u00e9nie Nights) TV series and before that in the successful TV series Caramel.<\/p>\n
Based on the Turkish TV series Bride of Istanbul, ”Aroos Beirut” ( Beirut Bride) made a huge success when it aired on MBC 4 and received wide acclaim. Beirut’s Bride season two is currently in the making.<\/p>\n
