Egypt sent Libya 44 containers of detergents on the shipping line between Damietta Port and Tobruk Port, Chairman of the Egyptian-Libyan Business Chamber Ibrahim al-Garary declared Saturday.<\/p>\n
Other shipments carrying food and medical equipment among others will arrive soon in the neighboring country with which urban borders have been shut as a protective measure against COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
The Libyan side had communicated with the Egyptian counterpart to introduce a shipping line between both countries for Egypt to send staples and medical aid to Libya amid coronavirus outbreak. Until Friday, Libya recorded 24 infections.<\/p>\n
Upon the directives of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the Egyptian Armed Forces sent to Italy on April 4 two military jets carrying medical equipment, protective suits, detergents and sanitizers.<\/p>\n
Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed arrived in Italy on Saturday accompanied by an Egyptian military delegation to deliver the medical aid transported by two C-295M jets.<\/p>\n
The minister was received by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio, who expressed his appreciation for Egypt\u2019s assistance and solidarity with his state and people.<\/p>\n
The statement on the packages read in Arabic and Italian, “From the Egyptian people to the Italian people.”<\/p>\n
The visit follows a phone call between President Sisi and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on April 3 as the former extended condolences over COVID-19 victims, and expressed support to Italy in the face of the pandemic.<\/p>\n
In February, Minister Zayed visited China bringing 10 tons of protective medical equipment.<\/p>\n
