The Ministry of Education and Technical education released on Sunday figures indicating a rise in the number of public schools, and students between the academic years 2015\/2016 and 2019\/2020.<\/p>\n
The numbers of schools over the five years are respectively 52,022; 52,664; 53,587; 55,214; and 56,569, while the number of students enrolled in pre-university education increased from 19,929,587 to 23,567,060.<\/p>\n
Education Minister’s Adviser Habiba Ezz said the ministry is scheduled to sign a series of protocols with new partners after the mid-year vacation to establish more applied technology schools in various governorates.<\/p>\n
In an interview with MENA in January, she said the ministry plans to establish 10 new applied technology schools every year for the number of schools to reach 100 by 2030, noting that these schools are the locomotive for developing technical education in Egypt.<\/p>\n
“Enrollment in these schools will open in July,” she said, noting that students will then undergo admission tests. Ezz explained that the goal of establishing these schools is to have skilled Egyptian workers to join the labor market inside and outside the country.<\/p>\n
“The Education Ministry offers all the needed logistic services for its students,” she said, revealing that training sessions will be organized for teachers and students.<\/p>\n
Ezz stated that the authority for assessing the quality technical education will go into action after the approval of the Parliament and Cabinet on its law. This authority will start assessing the newly established schools 3 years after the start of their operation.<\/p>\n
