Lebanese television presenter for Al-Arabiya Channel Najwa Qassem, 51, died of a heart attack in her home in Dubai on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Qassem\u2019s death was confirmed in a statement issued Thursday by the Saudi Arabian Al-Arabiya Channel via its official website.<\/p>\n
Media practitioners, celebrities and many of her followers took to social media platforms to mourn the veteran political news reporter, and offer their condolences.<\/p>\n
Qassem joined Al-Arabiya Channel in 2004, after she worked for 11 years as an anchor on Future TV of Beirut.<\/p>\n
She was a senior anchor and correspondent covering wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon, in addition to covering the assassination of Rafic Hariri in 2005. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon in July 7, 1968.<\/p>\n
Najwa Qassem was awarded Best Female Presenter in 2006 at the Fourth Arab Media Festival. She was called the \u201cCrystal Piece\u201d by Al-Arabiya, while the Saudi Riyadh newspaper referred to her as the \u201cWar Correspondent.\u201d<\/p>\n
In 2011, Qassem was named as one of the 100 Most Powerful Arab Women by the Arabian Business Magazine.<\/p>\n
