After being missing for three days, a 19-year-old girl was found dead in the Nile on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Shahd Ahmed, a third grade student in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Suez Canal University, was believed to have committed suicide in Giza, according to the initial investigations.<\/p>\n
On November 6, 2019, Shahd\u2019s father called the police to report her disappearance since she went out of the university. Three days later, the Nile rescue forces recovered her dead body, which was identified by the father, the investigations added.<\/p>\n
According to the initial investigations, Shahd left the faculty on November 6 in Ismailia governorate and headed to the Ring Road, where her belongings were found in Giza and jumped into the Nile. No criminal suspicion is behind her death and the General Prosecution issued permission to bury the dead body in her hometown of Arish, North Sinai.<\/p>\n
Shahd\u2019s father and other family members said that she was suffering a compulsive disorder, believing that she could have committed suicide.<\/p>\n
Egypt has witnessed several suicide incidents during the last period. In September 2018, an employee attempted to commit suicide by throwing himself under the wheels of the metro in Gamal Abdel Nasser station. In July 2018, a 17-year-old boy threw himself in front of a train in Old Marg station, leading to his immediate death; also in the same month a 20-year-old committed suicide at Mary Gerges station.<\/p>\n
