{"id":145325,"date":"2019-09-21T23:04:22","date_gmt":"2019-09-21T21:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/almowatna.news\/?p=145325"},"modified":"2019-09-21T23:04:22","modified_gmt":"2019-09-21T21:04:22","slug":"egypts-court-acquits-7-people-murder-charges-el-idwa-incidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/almowatna.news\/?p=145325","title":{"rendered":"Egypt&#8217;s court acquits 7 people of murder charges in &#8216;El-Idwa incidents&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Minya Criminal Court acquitted seven defendants of charges of killing and inciting violence in a case dubbed in media as \u201cRetrial of El-Idwa Incidents\u201d on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Two other defendants were handed down sentence of ten year in prison each, while five others were sentenced to 5 years in prison, the court presided by Judge Soleiman Atta al-Shahed and held in Torha Court Complex, southern Cairo. In the same retrial, the court sentenced two convicts to seven years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>On September 23, 2018, former supreme guide of the banned group Muslim brotherhood Mohamed Badie, along with 64 defendants out of 682 others, was sentenced to life on over charges of inciting violence in the same case.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution investigations, the defendants face charges with robbery, looting, raiding police station in Adwa village in Minya, killing a police officer on August 14, 2013 following the dispersal of pro-Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins in Rabaa and Nahda squares in Cairo.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2014, the Minya Criminal Court sentenced all defendants to death.
