Egyptian Football Association, EFA, announced on Thursday that Hossam El Badry will be the new national team manager.<\/p>\n
The decision surprised Egyptian football fans as many sources confirmed that IhabGalal was the favorite to take the job.<\/p>\n
EFA appointed a committee, which includes five members, to choose the next coach for the Egyptian national team after the EFA sacked Mexican manager, Javier Aguirre, following the national team\u2019s early elimination from 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at home.<\/p>\n
Egypt was eliminated from the 16th round of AFCON after losing to South Africa 1-0 thanks to a late goal from their winger, ThembinkosiLorch.<\/p>\n
El Badry spent his entire career as a footballer inside Al-Ahly and he was one of the team members in the late 70s and early 80s before the injury forced him to retire at 26.<\/p>\n
El Badry started his managerial career so early and he joined the first team staff in 2002 to serve as a coach assistant to the club\u2019s historic Portuguese manager Manuel Jose.<\/p>\n
El Badry became the club\u2019s first man on Al-Ahly\u2019s bench in 2009 and he is considered the club\u2019s best manager in the last decade as he won four Egyptian League titles, three Egyptian Cup titles, Egyptian Super Cup title and 2012 CAF Champions League title during his three spells at Al-Ahly.<\/p>\n
El Badry also managed Libya\u2019s Ahli Tripoli, Sudan\u2019s Al Merrikh and Enppi in Egypt.<\/p>\n
On international level, El Badry managed the U23 national team in 2013 but he failed to win qualification to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.<\/p>\n
