<\/p>\nSudan’s Foreign Minister Asmaa Mohamed Abdalla asserted the special and long-lasting relations between Sudan and Egypt, expressing her appreciation for Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry’s visit to Sudan.<\/p>\n
During his visit to Sudan, Shoukry met with his Sudanese counterpart Asmaa Mohamed Abdalla and Prime minster Abdallah Hamdouk. Shoukry also held a joint press conference with his counterpart.<\/p>\n

According to a Monday statement issued by spokesperson Ahmed Hafez, Shoukry stressed Egypt\u2019s full support for the new Sudanese government.<\/p>\n
During a meeting with Prime Minister Hamdouk in Khartoum, both parties discussed different means of enhancing bilateral cooperation and supporting Sudan at the transitional phase, according to Hafez.<\/p>\n
Shoukri congratulated the new premier on his post and on announcing the new Sudanese cabinet which reflects the country’s success to overcome such critical phase and start a new stage full of prosperity and growth for the Sudanese people.<\/p>\n
The two sides reviewed the activities of the joint technical committees including the files of the Nile water, river transport, foodstuffs and others, with aim of boosting cooperation and coordination in facing common challenges.<\/p>\n
Shoukri said Egypt will send relief aid to the flood-stricken areas, adding that the Sudanese official expressed appreciation of the distinguished relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n
He also reviewed the priorities of the new government during the transitional phase and stressed the need to strengthen regional and international relations at this stage, particularly strategic ones with Egypt for the best interest of both peoples<\/p>\n
For her part, Sudanese FM Asmaa Abdalla said during the meetings that relations between Egypt and Sudan are \u201chistoric due to religion and language ties.\u201d<\/p>\n
Abdalla thanked the Egyptian people and government for supporting Sudan and its people in their choices and their will in outlining their future and maintaining the ties among the Nile River peoples.<\/p>\n

Shoukry stressed the need to enhance political and institutional cooperation to help achieve stability, particularly amid the conflicts in Libya and the Horn of Africa, not to mention the spread of terrorism.<\/p>\n
“We’re acting, through consultancy, to provide all political and economic support for the Sudanese government,” the Egyptian foreign minister said.<\/p>\n
Shoukry also touched upon bilateral cooperation with Sudan in many fields, referring to the electricity linkage between the two Arab countries that is scheduled to go into effect in October.<\/p>\n
Such cooperation, Shoukry noted, would surely contribute to maintaining stability in Sudan.<\/p>\n
Shoukry invited the Sudanese foreign minister to visit Egypt as soon as possible to continue their political negotiations.<\/p>\n
On August 25, Sudanese Prime Minister Hamduk expressed his gratitude for all the partners who helped his country defuse its recent critical situation and reach a political deal to form the institutions of the transitional rule.<\/p>\n
Sudan’s partners include the African Union (AU), Ethiopia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Gulf states, Chad, the European Union (EU), the United States, and other neighboring countries in the south, as reported by El Masry El Youm.<\/p>\n
On August 17, a deal was signed by the Sudanese Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the Forces of Freedom and Change alliance (FFC) to pave the way for a civilian rule. The signing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.<\/p>\n
