Cairo hosts a delegation of Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) in light of following up the latest political developments in Sudan. <\/p>\n
The delegation includes main opposition leaders Minni Arkou Minnawi, Jibril Ibrahim, Malik Agar, Yasir Arman, and El Hadi Idris, according to Egyptian officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they are not authorize to brief the media. <\/p>\n
The SRF is one of the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) alliance, which was calling for the end of ousted President Omar al-Bashir\u2019s regime. The main opposition alliance and the ruling transitional military council (TMC) have initiated the draft of the Sudan\u2019s Constitution Declaration on August 4 in preparation for the final signatures due on August 17. <\/p>\n
Following the initial signature, Egypt welcomed this political movement, saying, \u201cThe agreement is an important step on the right path towards security and stability in the country.\u201d <\/p>\n
According to sources, the formation of a sovereign council, which will run the country during a three-year transitional period leading up to elections, will be announced on Aug. 18. A new prime minister will be named on Aug. 20 and a cabinet on Aug. 28. <\/p>\n
Egypt hosted the sixth meeting of the Egyptian-Sudanese Military Committee on July 14-18 under the chairmanship of the chiefs of staff of both countries’ Armed Forces. <\/p>\n
Since the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11, 2019, the interim military council has ruled the country, saying that its ruling could last for 2 years until a new democratic government will be elected. <\/p>\n
