President of the Rwandan Senate Bernard Makuza on Thursday highlighted the efforts exerted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in light of Egypt’s current presidency of the African Union, MENA reported. <\/p>\n
This came during a meeting with Egyptian Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal . <\/p>\n
Makuza greeted the Egyptian delegation on the anniversary of the July 23 revolution, expressing appreciation for this visit meant to boost parliamentary relations between the two African countries. <\/p>\n
Abdel Aal lauded Rwanda’s success story in terms of good governance, expressing the keenness of Egypt to enhance cooperation with Rwanda in various fields, MENA reported. <\/p>\n
Abdel Aal said Egypt has been flying direct flights to Kigali for months, which confirms strong ties between the two countries. <\/p>\n
Abdel Aal is leading a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Kigali. <\/p>\n
After the meeting, Abdel Aal visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and laid a wreath. <\/p>\n
Cooperation with Uganda <\/p>\n
In January, Rwandan Ambassador Saleh Habimana met with Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Moneim al-Taras to discuss cooperation on the sidelines of a visit by 40 African ambassadors to the organization. <\/p>\n
Taras told press that the Rwandan side has expressed interest to close deals with Egypt related to construction material, infrastructure, and raw material exchange. <\/p>\n
The AOI will provide technical support for Rwandan projects in the sectors of renewable energy, infrastructure, water purification, wastewater, railcars, fire trucks, ambulances, and electronics. <\/p>\n
Habimana was Rwanda\u2019s former Grand Mufti, and is Rwanda\u2019s first ever ambassador to Egypt. The decision was driven by the need to expand Egyptian – Rwandan relations. <\/p>\n
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed in Addis Ababa with his Rwandan counterpart Richard Sezibera files related to the institutional reform of the African Union. <\/p>\n
That was on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings for the extraordinary AU summit that took place on November 14-18. <\/p>\n
