Egyptian expatriates in Kuwait announced Sunday their unanimous support to the constitutional amendments supposed to be set for the public referendum. <\/p>\n
\u201cEgypt achieved huge stability and progress where a lot of national projects, new roads, were implemented; all these factors urge us to accept and support the new constitutional amendments,\u201d members of the Egyptian community in Kuwait stated in a press conference. <\/p>\n
\u201cEgypt is in need for more investments and projects that stability. IF it were not for Sisi\u2019s leadership, Egypt would not achieve the same progress,\u201d they continued.
\nThe Egyptian community in Kuwait calls on Egyptians inside and outside Egypt to take part in the referendum. <\/p>\n
Egyptian Parliament\u2019s general committee previously held a meeting headed by House Speaker, Ali Abdel Aal, to discuss a petition written by fifth of parliament members proposing constitutional amendments in line with Article 226 of the constitution and Article 140 of Parliament\u2019s internal by-laws. <\/p>\n
Abel Aal started the meeting by asserting that the realistic test of some of the current constitution\u2019s articles proved that the latter require a review; however, this does not reflect a flaw or a disadvantage, as several regional states are witnessing constitutional changes. <\/p>\n
Abdel Aal added that any amendment should aim at building strong, democratic and balanced institutions capable of competent performance without affecting the basic guarantees granted by the constitution. <\/p>\n
The House speaker discussed the most important principals the amendments are based on; they came as follows according to the general committee\u2019s statement: <\/p>\n
Supporting women, youth, Christian minority, the disabled, and the Egyptian expatriate community by solid constitutional articles. <\/p>\n
Restoring Shura Council \u2013 a senate- to broaden representation at the parliamentary Councils. <\/p>\n
Extending the presidential term to six years from four, as the current circumstances have proven the step essential. <\/p>\n
